Indian Ocean Tuna Commission

Stop Illegal Fishing cooperates with the IOTC Secretariat on the Technical Team of the FISH-i Africa Task Force, where IOTC plays an important role in providing expert advice and information to the Task Force.

The IOTC is an intergovernmental organisation responsible for the management of tuna and tuna-like species in the Indian Ocean. All eight FISH-i Africa Task Force members are also members of IOTC and therefore bound by its resolutions and committed to its objectives. The Task Force members benefit from the information sharing and guidance by the IOTC Secretariat at meetings and between meetings on their information sharing portal. The cooperation with Stop Illegal Fishing supports investigations and advice on the appropriate resolutions or procedures to apply in different situations of IUU fishing in the IOTC area.
