ADVERT: Stop Illegal Fishing Internship Position

Duration: 3- 6 months, Location: Botswana

Introduction:
In response to the negative impacts of Illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing taking place in African waters and the need to review the governance of fisheries systems in relation to this – the Stop Illegal Fishing Programme (SIF) was formed in 2007. Stop Illegal Fishing is committed to ending the devastating impacts of illegal fishing across African fisheries, in order to allow African nations and their people to enjoy the full benefits of stable and increased revenues from their fishery resources. SIF is a working group of the Partnership for African Fisheries (PAF) of the NEPAD Agency.  SIF works in partnerships with governments, civil society, NGOs, intergovernmental organisations and the fishing industry to harness the necessary international support and African commitment to delve deeper into the issue of illegal fishing and to support change. SIF works through a mix of facilitation, campaigning, empowerment and support for ongoing and new initiatives as part of their efforts to put an end to the crime of illegal fishing.
