Port State Measures to Stop Illegal Fishing supports FAO workshop in Madagascar

Sandy Davies (Technical Director) represented Stop Illegal Fishing during the Food and Agriculture Organization workshop to formulate a National Strategy and Action Plan for the implementation of the 2009 FAO Agreement on Port State Measures to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (the PSMA) in Madagascar and related instruments.

The workshop took place in late November 2018 in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Sandy Davies stated, “Stop Illegal Fishing is delighted to be working with the FAO to identify gaps and actions needed for the effective implementation of the PSMA. The Port State Measures to Stop Illegal Fishing initiative will be able to provide further support to Madagascar over the coming three years to support capacity building, provide mentoring and expert assistance, and to develop tools for PSM implementation which we think will have great value to all port States.”
